What PEG-MGF is

Mechano Growth Factor is not a separate molecule from IGF-1 so much as a different reading of the same gene: under mechanical stress, muscle splices the IGF-1 transcript into a variant called IGF-1Ec — MGF — that appears to act locally to help start tissue repair.

  • MGF (IGF-1Ec): a load-induced splice variant of IGF-1 studied for its role in muscle repair and satellite-cell activation
  • Pegylation: attaching a polyethylene-glycol chain to extend the peptide's otherwise very short half-life
  • PEG-MGF: the longer-acting form intended to keep that repair signal active beyond the few minutes native MGF survives

Most of what is known comes from preclinical and small studies. There is no established human dosing standard, and the evidence base is far thinner than for the better-characterized recovery peptides.

What we don't know yet

PEG-MGF acts on the IGF-1 axis, and that is exactly where the open questions sit. Stimulating growth signaling that the body normally keeps tightly regulated carries theoretical risk, and the human safety data needed to characterize it simply isn't there yet.
